On July 4, 2015 (May 19, 2015 lunar calendar), the Chinese Tusi Site was included in the World Heritage List. Tangya Tusi City Site On July 4, 2015 (local time), at the 39th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Bonn, Germany, China's "Tusi Site" was successfully included in the World Heritage List through deliberation. The successful application shows that the outstanding universal value, authenticity and integrity of the "Tusi Site" and the painstaking efforts of our country's government to protect these precious heritage sites have been unanimously recognized by the member states of the World Heritage Committee and international authoritative professional advisory bodies such as the International Council on Monuments and Sites. So far, the total number of World Heritage Sites in China has reached 48, continuing to rank second in the world. The World Heritage Committee believes that the "toast site" reflects the political system that ancient China implemented to manage ethnic minority areas in the mountainous, multi-ethnic areas of southwest China between the 13th and early 20th centuries. The remains of the Tusi walled cities and official buildings that have survived to this day were once the administrative and life centers of the "Tusi", the leader appointed by the central government and hereditary management of the local ethnic groups. Among them, the ruins of Yongshun Old Tusi City in Hunan, the site of Tangya Tusi City in Enshi, Hubei, and Hailongtun in Zunyi, Guizhou are representative Tusi ruins relatively concentrated in the mountainous areas of the border between Hunan, Hubei and Guizhou. They not only show the distinctive cultural characteristics of the local ethnic groups in terms of site selection characteristics, overall layout, functional types, architectural forms, materials and craftsmanship, but also show the unique common characteristics of Tusi ruins such as the symbol of Tusi's rule power, ethnic cultural exchanges and national identity, which are representative evidence of the management wisdom of the Tusi system in The "Tusi Ruins" series of heritage sites bear witness to the unique management wisdom of ancient China, as a unified multi-ethnic country, for the southwest mountainous and multi-ethnic areas. This management wisdom promotes the sustainable development of ethnic areas, contributes to the long-term unity of the country, and is of outstanding significance in maintaining the inheritance of ethnic cultural diversity. The declared heritage meets the criteria (ii) and (iii) for inclusion in the World Heritage List. Tong Mingkang, deputy director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, said in a speech on behalf of the Chinese government that the successful application of the "Tusi Site" has enabled the Tujia, Miao and Gelao people living in the mountainous areas of southwest China to have their own world cultural heritage for the first time. The concept of world heritage protection has been disseminated in a wider region and among more ethnic groups in China, and the Chinese government's efforts in cultural diversity protection have been recognized around the world. He pointed out that after the successful application of the "Tusi Site", the Chinese government will abide by the provisions of the World Heritage Convention and its operating guidelines, actively implement the relevant requirements of the General Assembly resolution, continue to strengthen the protection, management and monitoring of the site, and will strive to improve the lives of the people at the site, so that the traditional culture of all ethnic groups in China can be inherited and developed. In his speech, Tong Mingkang also expressed his gratitude to international organizations and international professional consulting agencies for their concern and support for the protection of Chinese cultural heritage. The site of Laosicheng is located in Yongshun County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province. Tangya Tusi City is located in Xianfeng County, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province. It is the seat of Changzheng, a lower-ranking institution in the tusi system in Huguang area. Tangya Changzheng Tusi is the Qin family, and the people are mainly Tujia.
