The spokesman of the UNTAC announced at a press conference on June 3, 1993 that counting in the Cambodia general election has basically ended. It is a foregone conclusion that the Funcinpec Party led by Prince Ranariddh's son will win this election. It was announced that a total of 3775608 valid votes were counted, of which the Funcinpec Party received 1709549 votes, accounting for 45.3%. The ruling Cambodia People's Party received 1459781 votes, accounting for 38.6%, and the Liberal Democratic Buddhist Party led by Song Shuang received approximately 125000 votes, accounting for 3.3%. Some other political parties received fewer votes. He said that starting from 5:30 pm on June 3, he will perform his duties as head of state and do his best to achieve national reconciliation and peace in Cambodia.
