Six-Party Nuclear Talks on July 26, 2005
On July 26, 2005, the Fourth Round of Six-Party Nuclear Talks began, after two difficult phases of negotiations, and the participants unanimously passed the Joint Statement on the Fourth Round of Six-Party Talks on September 19, 2005. In the Statement, the six parties agreed to take concerted steps to implement the Six-Party Consensus on the basis of the "Promise to Commitment, Action to Action" principle. In November, the First Phase of the Fifth Round of Nuclear Talks was held in Beijing and finally reached a meaningful "Presidential Statement". In the Statement, the parties reiterated that they would fully implement the joint statement on the basis of the established principles, and that the goal of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula could be verified early on.
