3 Juno is the third asteroid discovered by humans and one of the largest asteroids in the asteroid belt. It is an S-type asteroid composed of heavier stones. It was discovered on September 1, 1804 by the German astronomer Karl Harding with an ordinary 2-inch telescope and was named after Juno, the highest god of marriage in Roman mythology.
Karl Ludwig Harding (September 29, 1765-August 31, 1834) was a German astronomer and discoverer of the star Maryam.
In 1796, Johann Hieronymus Schröter hired Harding as his son's tutor. In 1804, after Harding discovered Maryam at the Schroter Observatory, he went to Göttingen to become Gauss's assistant.
In addition to Maryam, he also discovered three comets and published a catalog of 12,000 stars: Atlas novus coelestis.
There is a crater on the moon named after him, and asteroid No. 2003 is also named Harding.
