Seventy-five years ago today, on August 15, 1950 (July 2, 1950 in the lunar calendar), the Chinese Welfare Association was established. On August 15, 1950, Ms. Soong Ching Ling announced that the Chinese public welfare fund would be renamed the "Chinese Welfare Association" and served as the chairman of the executive committee. The predecessor of the Chinese Welfare Association was the Defense of China Alliance founded by Soong Ching Ling in Hong Kong in June 1938, and moved to Chongqing in 1941. The main task at that time was to support the Anti-Japanese War. In 1946, it moved to Shanghai and was renamed the Chinese public welfare fund to provide moral and material support to the Chinese People's Liberation Army; to relieve the poor and sick under the rule of the Kuomintang.
