August 1st every year is the anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army of China, so it is also called the "August 1st" Army Day. The 1927 August 1st Nanchang Uprising fired the first shot against the Kuomintang reactionaries, declaring the beginning of the independent leadership of the revolutionary armed forces and the creation of a revolutionary army by the Communist Party of China. On July 11, 1933, the Provisional Central Government of the Soviet Republic of China decided on August 1 as the anniversary of the founding of the Workers and Peasants 'Red Army of China, based on the recommendation of the Central Revolutionary Military Commission on June 30. On June 15, 1949, the People's Revolutionary Military Committee of China issued an order stipulating that the word "August 1" should be used as the main symbol of the military flag and military emblem of the People's Liberation Army of China. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, this anniversary was renamed the Army Day of the People's Liberation Army of China. Therefore, August 1 was designated as the Army Day of the People's Liberation Army of China, so it should be counted from August 1, 1927.
On the morning of August 1, a joint meeting was held with members of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang, representatives of various provinces, autonomous regions, special cities and overseas party departments, and the Revolutionary Committee of the Kuomintang of China was established. Deng Yanda, Soong Ching Ling, He Xiangning, Tan Pingshan, Wu Yuzhang, He Long, Lin Zuhan (Boqu), Ye Ting, Zhou Enlai, Zhang Guotao, Li Lisan, Yun Daiying, Xu Teli, Peng Pai, and Guo Moruo were elected as members. The Revolutionary Committee appointed Wu Yuzhang as Secretary-General, and Zhou Enlai, He Long, Ye Ting, Liu Bocheng and others formed the Staff Group. As the military command agency, Liu Bocheng was the chief of staff of the Staff Group and Guo Moruo was the director of the General Political Department. It also decided that the uprising army would still use the title of the Second Front Army of the National Revolutionary Army, with He Long serving as the commander-in-chief of the Front Army, and Ye Ting serving as the commander-in-chief of the former enemy of the Front Army. In the 11th Army, Ye Ting served as commander and Nie Rongzhen served as party representative; in the 20th Army, He Long served as commander and Liao Qianwu served as party representative; in the 9th Army, Zhu De served as deputy commander and Zhu Kejing served as party representative.
