Lamarck, the founder of the theory of evolution, was born

Jean-Baptiste Pierre Antoine de Monet (Chevalier de Lamarck, August 1, 1744 - December 18, 1829) was a Frenchman who in 1809 published "Philosophy of Animals" (also translated as "Philosophy of Zoology"), which systematically expounded his theory of evolution, commonly known as Lamarck's theory. In the book, he put forward two laws of advance and retreat and acquired inheritance, and believed that this was not only the cause of biological variation, but also the process of adaptation to the environment. Darwin quoted Lamarck's work many times in "The Origin of Species".

Comment: The theory of evolution is a very influential theory. It makes sense that organisms are constantly evolving in the process of adapting to their environment.

Key words: August 1, 1744, Lamarck, founder, theory of evolution
