On July 11, 1946, the Li Blood Case took place in Kunming.
79 years ago today, on July 11th, 1946 (June 13th, 1946 in the lunar calendar), Zhou Enlai issued a solemn statement when Li Gongpu and Wen Yiduo were murdered. In 1946, according to Chiang Kai-shek's will, Huo Kuizhang, commander-in-chief of Yunnan Garrison, convened a secret meeting in Kunming, such as Liu Shuwan, chief of police staff, and Wang Zimin, director of the inspection department, to conspire to kill Li Gongpu, and established that Wang Zimin assigned secret agents Tang Shiliang, Li Wenshan and Wu Chuanyun to execute it. On July 11, 1946, Li Gongpu, a famous * activist, was assassinated by Kuomintang agents in Kunming. On the 15th, Wen Yiduo, a professor at Southwest United University, was also killed by many spies in the same city; His son, Wen Lihe, was also shot several times, and his life was dying. Because of the temporal and spatial connection between the two murder tragedies in one city and within five days, because both Li and Wen were members of the Central Executive Committee of the China * League, the third largest political party in China, and because this incident happened at a time when a full-scale civil war was on the verge, the impact of this tragedy on the current situation at that time was self-evident. This paper intends to investigate and study the assassination of Wen Yiduo as a case, which is believed to be helpful to comprehensively grasp the relationship between the "Li Wen Massacre" and the political evolution in 1946. Li Gongpu and Wen Yiduo are both members of the Central Executive Committee of the Chinese * League and important leaders of the Kunming * Movement. They resolutely opposed the Kuomintang's civil war, agreed with the Communist Party's proposal of establishing a coalition government and founding a peaceful *, and repeatedly called for the end of the Kuomintang's one-party dictatorship, so they were blacklisted by Kuomintang spies. On the evening of July 11th, 1946, Li Gongpu and his wife went out. At about 10 o'clock, they were stabbed and seriously injured on their way home through the college slope of Qingyun Street. They died at 5 o'clock the next morning. On their deathbed, they cursed "shameless" and shouted "I die for *!" On the morning of July 15th, Wen Yiduo went to Yunnan University to attend the report meeting of Li Gongpu's death. As soon as he left the house, he was followed by secret agents. At the meeting, Wen Yiduo exposed the fascist atrocities of the Kuomintang and gave the famous "last speech". In the afternoon, he held a press conference at * Weekly, showing his solemn attitude of anti-dictatorship and anti-civil war. After the meeting, he and his eldest son Wen Lihe returned to the dormitory in Xicangpo, The National SouthWest Associated University, not far from his home. He was shot by a hidden spy and martyred on the spot. Wen Lihe was shot several times and rescued from danger. The "Li Wen Massacre" shocked the whole country. Mao Zedong and Zhu De called the families of Li Gongpu and Wen Yiduo respectively to express their deep condolences for the murder of the two gentlemen. All walks of life in Yan'an held anti-civil war and anti-secret service conferences. Commander-in-Chief Zhu De delivered a speech at the conference, calling on the people of the whole country to unite and resolutely oppose the Kuomintang's fascist civil war policy and spy policy. In Nanjing, Zhou Enlai, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, strongly protested to the Kuomintang delegation attending the CPPCC meeting, strongly demanding that the Kuomintang government severely punish the murderer, bury the dead, and cancel the secret service. Zhang Lan, chairman of the Central Committee of the Democratic League, called Chiang Kai-shek from Chengdu, angrily denouncing the criminal acts of the Kuomintang. All over the country, people's protests rose one after another, setting off a struggle against civil war, persecution and *. Li Gongpu was killed and Wen Yiduo was killed
