On July 2, 1922, the Northern Expedition Army returned to Guangdong to attack Chen Jiongming. Since Chen Jiongming launched an armed coup on June 16, there has been outrage in the country. Sun Yat-sen exercised his presidential powers as usual on the Yongfeng ship, and secretly ordered all the Northern Expedition troops to return to Guangdong to quell the chaos.
