Ninety-four years ago today, on December 12, 1931 (November 4, 1931 in the lunar calendar), the Indian mystic Osho was born. Osho, born on December 11, 1931 in India, became enlightened at the age of 21, and passed away on January 19, 1990. In his early years, he graduated from the Department of Philosophy of the University of Sharjah in India with particularly good grades and won the All India Debate Championship. After nine years as a professor of philosophy at Jabop University in India, he traveled around giving lectures, from Freud to Lao Tzu, Zhuang Tzu and Chan, from Goj to Buddha, from Jesus Christ to Tegel... More than 650 books have been published based on his lectures and have been translated into 32 languages and sold all over the world. He insisted on experiencing the truth for himself, rather than gaining knowledge and faith from the good of others. Life, Love and Laughter is one of a series of books designed for modern people to embody Osho's methods of exercising body, mind and meditation. Regarding his own work, Osho said he was helping to create the conditions that would enable the birth of a new human being. He often described this new human being as "Zorba of the Buddha" who could enjoy both earthly pleasures like Zorba of Greece and peaceful serenity like Buddha.
