December 1, 1886 The birth of Zhu De, First Marshal of the People's Republic
139 years ago today, on December 1, 1886 (November 6, 1886 lunar calendar), Zhu De, the First Marshal of the People's Republic, was born. On December 1, 1886, Zhu De was born in Lijiawan, Saddle Field, Yilong County, Sichuan Province. Zhu De's mother gave birth to 13 children, but only 6 men and 2 women survived due to inability to feed them. At the age of 6, Zhu De was sent to a private school with his two older brothers and was named Zhu Daizhen. He studied hard and his grades were always better than those of the children of landlords, but he was bullied by the children of rich families because he was a poor child. In Zhu De's young heart, there was already a hatred for the injustice in the world. When Zhu De was 9 years old, there was a severe drought in Sichuan, and Zhu De's family had to be separated due to poverty. Zhu De moved to Dawan with his uncle's parents. This year's experience gave him a lot of stimulation and inspired the young Zhu De to resist oppression and pursue bright ideas. In his heart, he had decided to seek a new way of life. In 1905, at the age of 19, Zhu De participated in the township examination, and soon went to Shunqing Mansion to participate in the government examination and placed in the top 20. This made the Zhu family very happy, and hoped that he could return home and show off his ancestors in the provincial examination. But Zhu De's mind was not on the imperial examination career at this time. He knew that in order to save the country, he had to enrich the country and strengthen the army, so he yearned for the education of "new school". At this time, the Qing government abolished the imperial examinations, and Zhu De took the opportunity to persuade his family to attend the Shunqing Primary School, and then transferred to the Middle School six months later. In 1909, Zhu De was finally admitted to the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall. Here, he secretly joined the Alliance and began his life saving the country. From 1911 to 1917, Zhu De participated in the anti-Qing struggle, the struggle to protect the country and the Yuan Dynasty, and the law protection movement in the army of General Cai E, but he eventually realized that he was just being used by warlords to fight for power and profit, so he began to find a new way out. During this period, he was a major general and a brigadier general, with a high salary and a comfortable life. He married Chen Wuzhen, a graduate of Nanxi Normal University, and had a warm family. But his ambition to save the country and the people became more and more determined. In July 1922, Zhu De finally came to Beijing after much hardship. He found the leader of the Communist Party, Chen Duxiu, and earnestly proposed to join the Communist Party of China. But Chen Duxiu believed that the generals of the old army needed to go through long-term study and test, and did not accept his application. This disappointed Zhu De, but did not shake his belief in the pursuit of truth and progress. So he decided to go to the hometown of Marxism to seek the truth of saving the country. In Paris, he met Zhou Enlai, who was moved by Zhu De's extraordinary experience and persistent pursuit of progress. He became his introducer to the party. From then on, he became a determined and brave soldier in the vanguard of the Chinese proletariat and began a new revolutionary journey. Zhu De at the time of the Nanchang Uprising On August 1, 1927, Zhu De participated in the Nanchang Uprising and served as the deputy commander of the Ninth Army, but then the uprising troops were surrounded by superior enemies and suffered heavy losses. At this critical juncture, Zhu De showed his fearless revolutionary spirit and unbreakable revolutionary will. He firmly told the soldiers: "Although the main force of the uprising army has failed, the banner of the Nanchang Uprising must not be lost." Then he led the troops to Jinggangshan, and finally joined the troops of Mao Zedong's Autumn Harvest Uprising. From then on, the "Zhu Mao Red Army" shocked the world and opened up a new path for the Chinese revolutionary armed forces to seize power. The turbulent life disintegrated his family. In Henan, he married Wu Ruolan, a female soldier. In February 1929, during a battle, Wu Ruolan was captured by the enemy, tortured, and soon died heroically in Ganzhou. This made Zhu De very sad, but he did not immerse himself in personal grief. He valued the rejuvenation and prosperity of the country above all else. He led the Red Army to Jinggangshan and continuously strengthened the revolutionary base. In the same year, he and Kang Keqing became significant others for life. Since then, the two have been together for nearly half a century through ups and downs. Zhu De's life as a soldier In 1930 to 1933, Mao Zedong and Zhu De led the Red Army to crush Chiang Kai-shek's four encirclement and suppression campaigns, but in the fifth counter-encirclement and suppression campaign, they suffered a terrible defeat due to Li De's military line error and were forced to go on the Long March. During the Long March, Zhu De cooperated with Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, commanded the 30,000 Red Army to launch a mobile and flexible campaign on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, and dealt with hundreds of thousands of Kuomintang troops who chased and blocked. After the Battle of Chishui, Zhu De finally jumped out of the enemy's siege. Subsequently, due to Zhang Guotao's split from the Central Committee, Zhu De was in danger for a time, but with his loyalty to the revolution and prestige in the Red Army, he resolutely resisted Zhang Guotao's conspiracy and made great contributions to the meeting of the First and Fourth Fronts. In the Anti-Japanese War, Zhu De, as the commander-in-chief of the Eighth Route Army, led the troops to go deep behind the enemy, regardless of his own safety, and achieved victory again and again. In the Liberation War, Zhu De was over 60 years old, but despite his fatigue, he worked hard to command the major battlefields, and often went down to the army to care about the lives and production of the soldiers. He was like a loving father, like an ordinary farmer, without the air of a commander-in-chief. On October 1, 1949, the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhu De served as the commander of the review and drove to review the troops of the various branches of the People's Liberation Army. He fought all his life, fought in the south and north, and fought for the liberation of the Chinese people through hardships, and finally achieved a great victory. At this time, he was already 63 years old, but he did not tire out at all and continued to fight for the prosperity and strength of the motherland until the last moment. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhu De was particularly concerned about the construction of a modern army. He traveled around, investigated and studied, and worked hard for the formation of a new army. But during the Cultural Revolution, because he dared to speak out, he was slandered as an "old warlord" and a "black commander" by Lin Biao and Jiang Qing and his gang. Chairperson Mao knew Zhu De well, and he said to others, "Without Zhu, there would be no Mao, Zhu Mao, Zhu Mao, Zhu Zaixian." This shows the chairperson's trust in the commander-in-chief. On January 8, 1976, Premier Zhou passed away. The news came, and Zhu De was very sad. He took difficult steps and solemnly raised his hand to the person who introduced him to the party more than 50 years ago and to his close comrades for more than 50 years. Then Zhu De fell ill in bed. When he was on his deathbed, he instructed his wife, Kang Keqing, to give all his savings of nearly 20,000 yuan to the party organization as party dues. This is what he has accumulated over the years from frugality and frugality. Since he was awarded the marshal in 1955, he has never received a marshal's salary, and he has never been willing to waste a little of the people's money. At 3:1 pm on July 6, 1976, Marshal Zhu De's heart stopped beating forever and he was 90 years old. Zhu De is very fond of children's intense battle and does not forget to play cards for entertainment. In 1950, Zhu De and his daughter Zhu Min. Zhu De and children In 1953, Zhu De's family photo.
