The Ministry of Finance, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce recently jointly issued a notice, deciding to stop the collection of management fees for individual industrial and commercial households and market management fees nationwide from September 1, 2008. The management fees for individual industrial and commercial households and market management fees have been collected from individual industrial and commercial households and private enterprises by the administrative department for industry and commerce since the 1980s. They are mainly used to build the market, provide services for individual industrial and commercial households, and finance the administrative department for industry and commerce. It has been collected for more than 20 years. The Ministry of Finance stated that with the establishment and continuous improvement of the socialist market economy system in our country, the functions of the administrative departments for industry and commerce have undergone changes, mainly to maintain economic order and conduct market supervision, and no longer directly participate in market construction. Suspension of management fees for individual industrial and commercial households and market management fees will help reduce the burden on individual industrial and commercial households and private enterprises, realize fair competition among market operators, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of individual, private and other non-public economies. It is conducive to strengthening and improving industrial and commercial administration, and promoting the administration of industry and commerce according to law and fair law enforcement.
