On this day 44 years ago, on September 30, 1981 (September 3, 1981 in the lunar calendar), Ye Jianying issued the nine principles for Taiwan's return. Ye Jianying, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made a speech to Xinhua News Agency reporters to further clarify the nine principles for the peaceful reunification of Taiwan and the mainland of the motherland. On September 30, 1981, Ye Jianying, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, on behalf of the Communist Party of China, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and the State Council, further clarified the nine principles and policies for Taiwan's return to the motherland and the realization of peaceful reunification. The main points are: (1) It is recommended to hold reciprocal negotiations between the Communist Party of China and the Chinese Kuomintang, implement the third cooperation, and jointly complete the great cause 2) It is recommended that the two sides jointly provide convenience for postal, trade, navigation, family visits, tourism, and academic, cultural, and sports exchanges, and reach relevant agreements. (3) After the reunification of the country, Taiwan can be regarded as a special administrative region, enjoy a high degree of autonomy, and can retain the military. The central government does not interfere in Taiwan's local affairs. (4) Taiwan's current social and economic system remains unchanged, its way of life remains unchanged, and its economic and cultural relations with foreign countries remain unchanged. (5) The Taiwan authorities and representatives from all walks of life may hold leadership positions in national political institutions and participate in state management. (6) When Taiwan's local finances encounter difficulties, the central government may subsidize them at its discretion. (7) People of all ethnic groups and people from all walks of life in Taiwan are willing to return to the motherland for settlers, and ensure proper arrangements, non-discrimination, and freedom of coming and going. ( 8) Welcome Taiwanese business people to invest in the mainland of the motherland to ensure their legitimate rights and interests and profits. (9) Warmly welcome the people of all ethnic groups, people from all walks of life, and people's organizations in Taiwan to provide suggestions and discuss state affairs together. After the publication of the 9 guidelines, the leaders of the Central Party and government, well-known figures from all walks of life, and patriotic compatriots have issued statements to express their support. Relevant organs and groups have also proposed corresponding measures, preparing to give generous reception to the return of people from all walks of life in Taiwan.
