Eighty-five years ago today, on September 30, 1940 (August 29, 1940), the Germans bombarded London. This is a group of terrified British children hiding in air-raid trenches. On September 30, 1940, the Germans bombed London violently. More than two months earlier, the Germans had dropped tons of bombs on London, killing thousands of people. September 30 reached its peak, with waves of German bombing that devastated much of London. London became a sea of fire, and the British alone shot down more than 1,200 German aircraft.
