Wars of Hippo: The Battle of Thermopylae ends with all the Spartans killed and the Persians able to attack Athens

August 11, 480 BC: The Battle of Thermopylae ended with all Spartans killed and the Persians were able to attack Athens. The Persian War was a war in which the ancient Persian Empire invaded Greece in order to expand its territory. The war ended with Greece winning and Persia losing.

In 480 BC, the successor king of Persia, Zexis I, led an army of 300,000 and 1,000 warships to re-invade Greece. Faced with the Persian army again, the whole city immediately entered a state of readiness, with Themistocelli as the commander and Aristotle as the deputy general to fight. This time, Persia was known as a million-strong army, which made all the cities and states of Greece feel that their life and death were tied to the front line. Therefore, they allied and fought against Persia, even if Sparta also participated in the action against Persia.

[Battle of Hot Spring Pass]

King Leonida of Sparta, with 300 of his own elite soldiers and 7000 from other city-states on the Peloponnese, was responsible for defending Greece's first line of defense, Thermopylae. Leonida and his soldiers fought desperately against a million Persian troops, preventing the Persian troops from advancing in the first two days and causing heavy casualties. But on the third day, a Greek traitor led the Persian army to take a small path to attack the rear of Lionida. Lionida was unable to resist and had to order the Peloponnese army to withdraw first and use his own 300 elite soldiers to defend Thermopylae. After some fierce fighting, the entire Spartan army was destroyed, but his heroic deeds were passed down to future generations and admired by future generations.

Comment: A temporary victory or defeat is nothing. The fearless spirit of the Athenians 'heroic resistance will be immortal.
