On August 24, 1937, "Salvation Daily", the organ of the Shanghai Cultural Salvation Association, was founded in Shanghai. The editorial board consisted of Ba Jin, Wang Renshu, A Ying, Mao Dun, Hu Yuzhi, Guo Moruo, Xia Meizun, Xia Yan, Zhang Naiqi, Zhang Tianyi, Zou Taofen, Zheng Zhenduo, Sakong, Gu Zhizhong, etc. Guo Moruo was the president and Xia Yan was the editor-in-chief. Zhou Enlai instructed the general policy of the newspaper to publicize anti-Japanese resistance, unity and progress, and to develop a unique style.
