On this day 77 years ago, on November 2, 1948 (October 2, 1948 in the lunar calendar), the Battle of Liaoshen was a complete victory. The people of Shenyang celebrated the liberation of the Northeast. On November 2, 1948, the Northeast People's Liberation Army captured Shenyang, and since then the entire Northeast has been liberated. On October 28, in accordance with the instructions of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, in order to prevent the Kuomintang troops in Shenyang from withdrawing from the sea, the Northeast Field Army deployed the Shenyang and Yingkou Kuomintang troops while deploying the Battle of Western Liaoning. The Northeast Field Army successively captured Fushun, Benxi, Anshan and other towns. On November 1, the siege forces launched a general attack on the urban area of Shenyang. On the 2nd, they occupied the whole city of Shenyang. The Kuomintang army 130,000 people and captured 27 general-level officers such as Huang Shiyue, a lieutenant general of the Ministry of National Defense stationed in the Northeast "General Suppression", and Zhao Zhenfan, a deputy commander of the 53rd Army. Among the defectors were Lieutenant General Zhou Fucheng, commander of the Eighth Corps, Yuan Kezheng, deputy chief of staff of the Northeast "General Suppression", and other 66 senior generals. On the 2nd, a part of the People's Liberation Army launched an attack on Yingkou City. After 3 hours of fierce fighting, Yingkou was captured, and the Kuomintang defenders were 14,000. The Liaoshen Campaign was over, and the Northeast Liberation Army destroyed more than 470,000 Northeast Kuomintang troops at the cost of more than 69,000 casualties.
