Tang Yiren (1910.11.2-1978.5.3) was an animal husbandry scientist and educator. Founder of the discipline of livestock ecology in my country. Under his guidance, he took the lead in breeding my country's fine-wool sheep breeds in Inner Mongolia, and guided the improvement and improvement of Xinjiang sheep in Xinjiang, making important contributions. In 1965, it was proposed to establish a million-head fine-wool sheep base in the Ili-Bortala region of Xinjiang, and achieved results in production. He has compiled and translated a large number of animal husbandry science and technology documents, which has played a role in promoting the improvement of animal husbandry science and technology in my country. Tang Yiren was born on November 2, 1910 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Born in poverty, he loved reading since he was a child. Due to his hard work, he was admitted to Xiuzhou Middle School in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. He worked part-time, and graduated from high school in the summer of 1931. He was admitted to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Central University and graduated in 1935 with a bachelor's degree. After graduation, he served as a technical assistant of the National Economic Commission; Later, he was sent to serve in the management ranch in Shimen Mountain, Fengyang County, Anhui Province. In 1937, he was admitted to the 5th China-UK GG public student. He studied at the Institute of Animal Genetics at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. He obtained his doctorate in 1940. In the same year, he went to the United States from the United Kingdom to study in the Wool Department of Hua-Ming University. He returned to China in 1941 and served as a professor in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Central University. In 1947, at the invitation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), he once again went to the United States with his family to serve as Animal Husbandry Commissioner. The People's Republic of China was founded. With a sincere heart to serve the motherland, he resolutely gave up his superior work and comfortable life and returned to the motherland. From 1950 to 1978, he served as a second-level professor and director of the Department of Animal Husbandry at Beijing Agricultural University. He has served as and concurrently served as a member of the School Committee of Beijing Agricultural University, deputy director of the Institute of Animal Husbandry of the China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, executive director and secretary-general of the China Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Society, deputy head of the Grassland Management Group of the State Council, and member of the Mountain Utilization Group. In 1956, he was appointed by the Ministry of Agriculture to go to India to inspect agriculture and animal husbandry. He devoted his life to the teaching and research of animal husbandry science, cultivated a large number of animal husbandry science and technology talents, and became the backbone of animal husbandry scientific research and production. He died in Beijing due to illness on May 3, 1978 at the age of 68.
