Breaking-News >> TodayHistory On November 8, 1931, Japan planned the Tianjin Clothes Uprising.
Ninety-four years ago today, on November 8th, 1931 (September 29th, 1931 in the lunar calendar), Japan planned a riot by plainclothes teams in Tianjin. A plainclothes team composed of Japanese ronins On November 8, 1931, the Japanese invaders planned and directed the "plainclothes riot" in Tianjin. Doihara, the secret service chief of the Kwantung Army, and Xiang Wei of the Tianjin garrison headquarters organized, planned, trained and directed the riot. The riot was participated by more than 2,000 bandits, soldiers, hooligans, gamblers, smokers, traitors and bullies. A "plainclothes team" composed of bullies, led by Li Jichun and Zhang Bi. On the evening of the 8th, under the cover of Japanese artillery fire, plainclothes teams rushed out from Haiguang Temple and other places, and attacked Chinese police agencies, Tianjin Municipal Government and Hebei Provincial Government. At the same time, all the military police and gendarmes of the Japanese concession were dispatched to cover the attack of plainclothes teams on the edge of the concession and occupied a Chinese police station. For a time, traffic in the city was cut off, shops were closed, and many innocent civilians died. Because the Chinese side had received information in advance and made alert, this riot was hit head-on by the Tianjin Security Team composed of the Northeast Army. The security team killed more than 60 rioters, captured more than 300 people, beheaded and shot more than 40 people. The plainclothes team fled back to the Japanese concession after being defeated. Afterwards, under the pretext of "endangering the lives of expatriates in the Japanese concession", the Japanese imperialists demanded that the Chinese security team retreat 300 meters from the boundary line of the Japanese concession, otherwise Japan would take free action. On the 15th, the Northeast military authorities compromised when negotiating with the Japanese and agreed to the unreasonable demands of the Japanese. But the Japanese still bombarded the provincial, municipal and public security bureaus with artillery. After the first riot was defeated, the Japanese invaders organized another riot on November 26. The plainclothes team sneaked out of the Japanese concession in advance and entered downtown Tianjin. That night, the lights in the Japanese concession went out, and the Japanese army bombarded the provincial and municipal government, the public security bureau and the telephone bureau with artillery to cover the invasion of plainclothes teams. As a result, Tianjin Security Team once again defeated the plainclothes team. Seeing that their attempt was defeated, the Japanese invaders were extremely annoyed and ashamed. They once again looked for excuses and put forward unreasonable demands such as the withdrawal of Chinese troops from Tianjin and the absence of anti-Japanese behavior of Tianjin people. At the same time, they sent more troops to Tianjin and intimidated them by force. The Nationalist government actually accepted the unreasonable demands of Japan and ordered the troops stationed in Tianjin to withdraw on November 29th.
