On October 26, 2013 (September 22, 2013 in the lunar calendar), a magnitude 7.1 earthquake occurred off Fukushima, Japan. On October 26, 2013, the "Central News Agency" reported that a magnitude 7.1 earthquake was observed off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan at around 2:10 am Japan time. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued tsunami warnings for many places along the Pacific coast of Tohoku and Kanto regions of Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency originally estimated the magnitude of the strong earthquake to be 6.8, but later revised it to a magnitude 7.1. The epicenter was off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture, and the earthquake depth was 10 kilometers. The Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning for the Pacific coast of Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima, Ibaraki and other prefectures and the ninety-nine-mile house in Chiba Prefecture. The estimated height of the tsunami is about 1 meter. Earthquakes of magnitude 4 were observed in Miyagi, Fukushima, Ibaraki, and Tochigi prefectures. Even the greater Tokyo area was visibly shaken.
