144 years ago today, May 19, 1881 (April 22, 1881 in the lunar calendar), the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Kemal, was born. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (also translated as Kemal) Mustafa Kemal (1881.5.19~1938.11.10), founder of the Turkish Republic, first president and commander-in-chief of the armed forces (1923~1938), and Marshal. At the end of the year, he was promoted to commander and became a hero and idol worshipped by the Turks. In 1916, he was promoted to brigadier general. Since 1917, he has served as commander of the regiment, commander of the group army, and inspector of the regiment. Since 1919, he unified various rights protection associations with the commercial bourgeoisie as the core, established the Turkish National Representative Council, and led the national liberation movement. In March 1920, Allied troops occupied Istanbul, the capital of Turkey, and the Ottoman sultan acted as a puppet and massacred his own people. Kemal went to Ankara to convene the Grand Jirga in April and established an interim government against the Ottoman Sultan. He was elected Speaker of the Grand Jirga and Chairman of the Government. He also formed a national army and appointed himself as commander-in-chief. The National Convention known as the "Turkish Declaration of Independence" was issued. From August to September 1921, he commanded the Battle of the Sakaria River and defeated nearly 100,000 invading troops personally led by the Greek king, becoming a turning point in the Turkish National Revolutionary War. In September, he was awarded the title of "Ghazi"(winner) and the rank of Marshal. In 1922, the compulsory military service system was implemented and the military system was reformed, and the Western Front Army of more than 100,000 people was formed. In the decisive battle in Izmir from August to September 1922, he commanded the Turkish army to launch a general attack on the Greek invading army supported by Britain, driving all the Greek troops out of the country in one fell swoop and achieving a complete victory in the War of Independence. On November 1, the Grand Jirga presided over a bill announcing the end of more than 600 years of feudal rule in the Ottoman Empire. In July 1923, the Treaty of Lausanne was signed with the Allies. On October 29, the Republic of Turkey was proclaimed, and Kivel was elected as the first President of the Republic and concurrently served as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. In 1924, the caliphate was abolished and political and economic reforms were embarked on, creating a new era in Turkish history. Known as the "Liberator of Turkey". In July 1927, he voluntarily resigned from the military in order to adapt to the new electoral law, and was re-elected as president in November. During his tenure, reforms were implemented in various aspects such as administration, social life, culture and education. After the birth name law was promulgated in 1934, he was given the title of "Ataturk"(meaning "Father of the Turkish Nation") as his surname. On November 10, 1938, he died of illness. He is the author of "Collection of Ataturk's Speeches","Speech (1927)" and "The Road to New Turkey".
