Breaking-News >> TodayHistory On May 25, 1902, the Genesis Massacre in Taiwan took place
On this day 123 years ago, on May 25, 1902 (April 18, 1902 in the lunar calendar), the tragedy of Taiwan's surrender ceremony took place. More than 4,000 anti-Japanese rebels were lured and killed by the Japanese on May 25. The Japanese authorities in Taiwan lured and killed the surrender rebels, resulting in a horrific and bloody tragedy. In 1898, Ren Yuyuan Taro of Japan became the governor of Taiwan, and Kodama appointed Goto Shinping as the civil affairs chief. Goto changed the method of military suppression in the past, and adopted a strategy of softening, luring, dividing and destroying the anti-Japanese rebels in Taiwan, which caused a large number of the rebels to submit, and the anti-Japanese forces in Taiwan were disintegrated. By 1902, the rebels who were still insisting on the Anti-Japanese War had run out of ammunition and were ready to submit to the Japanese authorities. On May 25, the Japanese authorities set up surrender ceremonies in six places, including Linhuapu, Tuku, Xiluo, Tariwu, Nerin, and Douliu, to hold surrender ceremonies. But secretly, a large number of troops were ambushed in each of the surrender ceremonies. On this day, all 265 nominal soldiers who went to the six surrender ceremonies to accept the Japanese surrender ceremony were massacred by the Japanese army. In this way, the Japanese authorities actually lured and killed more than 4,000 Guishunyi troops. In his book "A Spot of Japanese Colonial Policy," Mr. Goto said: "When we were crusading against the bandits, there was a bandit submission method that said that we would give the submissive bandits a certificate of submission, gather them in the police office, and issue an order in advance, so that the army could kill them all at the same time on the same day."
