On July 25, 1953, the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway was put into operation
72 years ago today, on July 25, 1953 (June 15, 1953 in the lunar calendar), the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway was put into operation. On June 13, 1952, the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway was completed and the opening ceremony was held. Teng Daiyuan (former Minister of Railways) cut the ribbon for the opening of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway from Chengdu, Sichuan to Chongqing. It is the first trunk railway built after the founding of New China. It has a total length of 505 kilometers. It started construction in June 1950, opened to traffic in June 1952, and was delivered for operation in July 1953. The completion of this railway has realized the wish of the Sichuan people for more than 40 years. Before the start of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway, Deng Xiaoping and relevant leading comrades jointly studied the road construction plan. Mao Zedong inscribed the opening of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway. The first passenger car arrived at Chengdu Station
