102 years ago today, on June 13, 1923 (April 29, 1923 in the lunar calendar), the Beiyang government fought against Li Yuanhong and fled to Tianjin. Li Yuanhong (the man wearing a suit at the door) was at the Humen residence in Dongchang before leaving Beijing. On June 13, 1923, Beijing government President Li Yuanhong was forced to leave Beijing for Tianjin. This was a plot designed by Cao Yan to ascend the presidency. In April 1922, Cao Lun, the direct warlord leader, defeated Feng's Zhang Zuolin in the Zhifeng War and monopolized the power of the Beijing government. In order to consolidate his rule, in June of the same year, he expelled President Xu Shichang, who supported the Anhui faction, and promoted Li Yuanhong to serve as the puppet president. A year later, when he realized that his rule was stable, he planned to kick Li Yuanhong away and plan to come to power himself. To this end, Cao Yan directed one "farce" after another. On June 7, hundreds of military and police officers went to the Presidential Palace to demand wages; on the 8th, the "National Congress of Ten Thousand People" in Beijing asked Li Yuanhong to retire; On the 9th, the Beijing police stopped their posts and the Li Residence had water and electricity; on the 10th, thousands of people surrounded the Li Residence and shouted "the president abdicate." On the 11th, more than a thousand military police officers and police entered the Li Residence to cause trouble; on the 12th, Feng Yuxiang and Wang Huaiqing handed over their resignation to Li Yuanhong. Seeing that the situation was over, Li Yuanhong had no choice but to issue several orders on the 13th: appointing and removing state officials; Abolish the patrol envoys, etc.; denounce the evil of coup manipulation; and "this president cannot freely exercise his powers in Beijing and is scheduled to move to Tianjin today." In the afternoon, Li Yuanhong left Beijing for Tianjin with his family.
