Painter Fu Baoshi passed away on September 29, 1965
Sixty years ago today, on September 29, 1965 (September 5, 1965 in the lunar calendar), painter Fu Baoshi passed away. Fu Baoshi Fu Baoshi is a master of modern landscape painting. The huge landscape painting "So Many Beautiful Mountains and Rivers" in the Great Hall of the People is a masterpiece of his cooperation with Guan Shanyue. Fu Baoshi's original name was Rui Lin and his name was the owner of Baoshi Zhai. Born in 1904 and died in 1965. Born in Nanchang, Jiangxi. Fu Baoshi was born in poverty. In his youth, he worked as an apprentice in a porcelain shop. He was dismissed due to his frail health. In a painting shop near his home, a master Zuo became Fu Baoshi's first teacher. This master Zuo specializes in copying Shi Tao's works. He can draw large paintings on a small table, roll a large piece of paper, and draw them little by little. Although he paints partially after little, the overall view is not bad. The young Fu Baoshi not only learned painting skills from Master Zuo, but also met the ancient master Shi Tao. He called himself "Master of Baoshi Zhai" and later simply changed his name to Fu Baoshi. He graduated from the First Normal School of Jiangxi Province in 1926 with the Department of Art and stayed there to teach. In his youth, Fu Baoshi was helped by Xu Beihong, who helped him study in Japan. After returning to China, he served as a professor at Nanjing Central University of the Arts. He once served as Guo Moruo's secretary and engaged in anti-Japanese propaganda. After liberation, he served as president of Jiangsu Academy of Traditional Chinese Painting and professor of Nanjing Normal College. He served as vice chairman of China Artists Association, chairman of the Jiangsu Province Branch of the Artists Association, and member of the 3rd National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Fu Baoshi was the author of "A Study on China Painting","Theory of China Painting","Character Techniques of China Landscape Painting", etc. Fu Baoshi has made great achievements in landscape painting and advocated innovation in art. He lived in Sichuan for eight years and his creation has made great progress. After the founding of New China, he traveled three times to sketch, which promoted the three changes in his creation. Long-term in-depth observation of real mountains and rivers has naturally freed us from the ancients 'pen and ink. The clouds and mist painted are magnificent and majestic. The creative rules and regulations are not in accordance with the usual rules, and are good at integrating water, ink and color. In terms of layout, he often extended the peak of the mountain peak out of the paper, or placed it on the top of the painting paper, leaving little sky, breaking the traditional pattern and forming a majestic aura that covered the sky. He stuffed mountains and trees above and below the paper to form a "large piece of paper" structure. He was also good at painting water and rain, and created the "stone-hugging and chapping" method. His figure paintings are also unique, with most of them based on ancient literary classics. Fu Baoshi only lived to the age of 61, an early death among Chinese painters. Fu Baoshi's masterpieces: "Wangan Misty Rain","Xiaoxiao and Sunset Rain","Da Di Cottage","So Many Beauties in the Country and Mountain"(in cooperation with Guan Shanyue),"Pipa Xing","Beauty Xing", etc. Fu Baoshi's Works: Xiaoxiao and Sunset Fu Baoshi's Works: Night Tour in Chibi
