Born in Guilin, Guangxi in 1893. Modern philosopher and educator. In his early years, he participated in the Alliance and devoted himself to the Revolution of 1911, and later devoted himself to studying Buddhism. After 1917, he was hired to teach Indian philosophy at Peking University. In 1924, he resigned his teaching position and went to Shandong to run his own education and engage in rural construction. He once served as dean of Henan Village Governance College and dean of Shandong Rural Construction Research Institute. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he served as a member of the Supreme National Defense Council and a member of the National People's Political Consultative Council. Later, he participated in initiating the organization of the "Unification and Founding of the People's Republic of China". In 1941, he was reorganized into the "China Democratic Political Alliance", served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee, and served as president of its official newspaper, Guangming Daily. Participated in the Political Consultative Conference in 1946. After the founding of New China, he served successively as a member and standing committee member of the National Political Consultative Committee, chairman of the College Affairs Committee of China Academy of Culture, and consultant of the Confucius Research Society of China. He died of illness in Beijing on June 23, 1988.
