120 years ago today, May 24, 1905 (April 21, 1905 in the lunar calendar), the author of "The Quiet Don River" was born. Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov, Soviet writer. Born on May 24, 1905 in Visinskaya, Don. He participated in revolutionary work in the early 1920s and published his debut essay "Test" in 1923. The following year he joined the Russian Proletarian Writers Federation. In 1926, he published a collection of works "The Story of the Don River" and "The Light Blue Wilderness". In the same year, he began to create the novel "The Quiet Don River", a total of 4 books, which was completed in 1940. The publication of this work gained the author widespread reputation and was awarded the Stalin Prize for Literature in 1941. Other works include the first part of the novel "The Pioneering Land","What a Man's Encounter","They Fight for the Motherland"(unfinished), etc. Won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1965. He served as a director of the Writers Association of the Soviet Union, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and a representative of the Supreme Soviet. He died in 1984.
