On August 28, 1949, Soong Ching Ling arrived in Peiping from Shanghai
Seventy-six years ago today, on August 28, 1949 (July 5, 1949), Soong Ching-ling arrived in Peiping from Shanghai. Soong Ching-ling, who arrived at Peiping Railway Station, was warmly welcomed by senior leaders of the Communist Party of China. On August 28, 1949, Soong Ching-ling, wife of Sun Yat-sen, accompanied by Deng Yingchao, vice chairman of the All-China Democratic Women's Federation, arrived in Peiping from Shanghai. More than 50 people including Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Zhou Enlai, Lin Boqu, Dong Biwu, Li Jishen, He Xiangning, Shen Junru, and Guo Moruo went to the station to greet him.
