Petrarch (1304-1374), a famous Italian poet and scholar of the early Renaissance, was the founder of humanism, and was inseparable from the establishment of the artistic and moral values of the early bourgeoisie.

Petrarch's father, a lawyer in Florence, was expelled from the city in 1302 due to discord with the leaders of the Mafia and moved to Arezzo. Petrarch was born here on July 20, 1304. After several relocations, in 1312 the family moved to Avignon in southern France, where the Holy See was at the time. Therefore, Petrarch had close ties with the pope and other elites. This situation was not only related to his growth, but also contributed to his later humanist activities.

Petrarch loved literature and rhetoric when he was a boy, and was particularly interested in classical works. The ancient Roman poems of Virgil and Cicero's speeches all attracted him strongly. But his father wanted him to become a jurist. Therefore, from 1316 onwards, he studied law in Montepoli, France, and in Bologna, Italy. When his father died in 1320, he gave up law and freely developed his hobbies. In the same year he returned to Avignon to serve as a minor teaching post. 1330-1347 In 1969, he served under Cardinal Vanni Korona.

He was not busy working in the church, which allowed him to participate in some political and diplomatic activities of the Holy See and study literature and write poetry tirelessly. As a poet, Petrarch's reputation quickly spread. In 1340, Paris and Rome competed to invite him to accept the crown. He decided to go to Rome. On April 8, 1341, he accepted the title of "Poet Laureate" on Mount Capitoli in Rome.

Petrarch's poems are very rich, among which "Songs","Africa","Ode to Italy" and "Biographies of Celebrities" are world-famous.

On July 19, 1374, Petrarch died in a small village called Akwa. When his body was found, his head was still buried in Virgil's manuscript.
