Forty-five years ago today, on October 17, 1980 (September 9, 1980), Peruvian archaeology proved that the horse originated in South America. Some Peruvian scientists, based on recent archaeological findings, have put forward a new view that the origin of the horse is South America. Before this, the scientific community generally believed that the horse originated in North America and later entered Eurasia. Not long ago, a black pottery statue of a horse rider about 20 cm high was discovered in northern Peru by ancient Indians. This statue belongs to the Chimu culture of the ancient Indians that existed long before Europeans entered South America. A few years ago, archaeologist Calditch also discovered fossil fragments of horses in Peru. The discovery site is the village of prehistoric people who lived in modern Peru many years ago 100,000. On the basis of these findings, some Peruvian scientists have suggested that horses originated in South America and later entered North America through the Isthmus of Panama. Later, to escape the cold, horses crossed the Bering Strait, which was still land, into Asia. Arabian horses were bred by these horses. When the Moors conquered Spain, they brought Arabian horses into the Pyrenees Peninsula in 711 AD. Eight centuries later, Spanish colonists brought them back to South America. It is not explained why horses disappeared among the Indians long before the Spanish arrived in South America.
