Cuban officials announced on July 3, 1997 that a team of Cuban and Bolivian experts had recently found the remains of Che Guevara in Bolivia. According to the Granma newspaper, Cuban experts and Bolivian workers discovered the remains of Che Guevara and his comrades while conducting search and excavation work near a cemetery near the old runway of the Grande Valley Airport in Bolivia from June 28 to July 1. Since the end of November 1995, the Bolivian government, with the assistance of Cuban and Argentine experts, used the world's most advanced technology to search for Che Guevara's body. Che Guevara was born in Rosario Province, Argentina. He was Castro's comrade during the Cuban revolution. In 1966, he went to the Bolivian jungles to lead the guerrilla war.
