Breaking-News >> TodayHistory Taiping Rebellion and Tianjing Incident
After the Taiping Rebellion established its capital in Tianjing (Nanjing), the Eastern King Yang Xiuqing presided over the government and took pride in taking credit. He bullied the Heavenly King Hong Xiuquan and suppressed all meritorious generals. He even used the identity of the Heavenly Father to make a speech to punish the Heavenly King and coerced the Heavenly King to confer him the title of "Long Live." Hong Xiuquan couldn't bear it anymore and urgently called Wei Changhui, King of North, Shi Dakai, King of Wing, and others back to Beijing to discuss good strategies. In the late night of September 1, 1856 (the fourth day of August, the sixth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty), Wei Changhui and more than 3,000 of his cronies rushed back to Tiandong and immediately surrounded the Dongwang Mansion, blocking all the streets leading to the Dongwang Mansion. On the 2nd, Wei Changhui, who had a personal grudge with Yang Xiuqing, and his cronies rushed to the East Mansion and assassinated Yang Xiuqing, massacred his family and a large number of people in the East Mansion, and carried out a massacre. Afterwards, Hong Xiuquan executed Wei Changhui and was unwarranted suspicious of Shi Dakai of the dynasty, so Shi Dakai led 100,000 elite soldiers to leave Sichuan. The "Tianjing Incident" greatly damaged the vitality of the Taiping Rebellion, turning from prosperity to decline, and entering the later stage of the struggle. Shi Dakai Comment: This is the beginning of the decline of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom.
