Thirty-one years ago today, on September 7, 1994 (August 2, 1994 in the lunar calendar), photographer Wu Yinxian passed away in Beijing. Wu Yinxian's representative photography work "Red Flag Spectrum" Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Photographers Association, Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Old Photographers Association, and Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Society of Cinematographers Comrade Wu Yinxian passed away in Beijing on September 7, 1994 at the age of 94 due to illness. Wu Yinxian was born in Muyang County, Jiangsu Province in 1900 and graduated from Shanghai Fine Arts College in 1922. He actively participated in the left-wing film movement in his youth; he filmed classics in the history of Chinese film such as "Children of the Wind and Cloud", "Urban Scenery", "Life and Death Concentric", and "Angel on the Road". After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Wu Yinxian went to Yan'an and successfully shot precious documentaries such as "Nanniwan" and "Doctor Bethune". Wu Yinxian has always attached great importance to cultivating photographic talents, and cultivated the first batch of photographic backbones for the revolutionary base during the war years. After the founding of New China, he trained a large number of new photographic talents during his tenure as deputy dean and head of the photography department of the Beijing Film Academy. Wu Yinxian has a persistent pursuit of photographic art and continuous innovation. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, he has shot excellent feature films such as "Red Flag Spectrum" and "Dr. Bethune", among which "Red Flag Spectrum" won the best photography award of the first "Hundred Flowers Award". Over the decades, he has taken tens of thousands of photographic works, enthusiastically praising the magnificent rivers and mountains of the motherland, the colorful lives of the people, and eulogizing the great achievements of socialist construction. He edited and produced the group photos of "No Communist Party, No New China", which won "Special Honorary General" at the 16th National Photographic Art Exhibition. Comrade Wu Yinxian has made significant contributions to the construction of photographic theory. Since the reform and opening up, he has completed more than ten theoretical works totaling more than one million words such as "Photographic Composition". Wu Yinxian has dedicated himself to film and photography for more than 70 years and enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad. More than 20 provinces and cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, as well as the United States, France, Switzerland, Singapore, Brazil and other countries have held his solo film exhibitions. The International Center of Photography in New York, USA awarded him the "Certificate of Photography Merit", the "Wu Yinxian Month" was specially held at the 19th International Photography Festival in Arles, France, and the Hong Kong and Macao Photographic Association also awarded him the title of "Master Photographer".
