He is smart and hard-working, and his academic performance is always among the best. Cheng Fangwu went to Japan to study with his elder brother at the age of 13. While his classmates were still learning Japanese, he mastered Japanese completely and began to learn English. While his classmates were learning English, he began to learn German again. After a lifetime of hard work, Cheng Fangwu mastered five languages: Japanese, English, German, French and Russian. In Japan, as he grows older, Cheng Fanwu's learning purpose becomes clearer. In order to enrich the country and strengthen the army, Cheng Fangwu was admitted to the Military Engineering Department of Tokyo Imperial University to study firearms. Not only was he very talented in learning languages, but he was also very good at mathematics, physics and chemistry. He was a famous genius among international students at that time. However, the atrocities of imperialism in invading China and the criminal act of the Northern Warlords kneeling and surrendering made Cheng Fanwu realize that saving the country cannot rely solely on science and technology. More importantly, it is necessary to improve the political awareness of the masses and rely on the people to transform old China. Therefore, he, Guo Moruo, Yu Dafu and others founded the "Creation Society", published publications, published revolutionary literary works that aroused the masses, and introduced Marxist literary theory. Creation Society was an important literary society in the history of modern literature in China, and Cheng Fanwu became one of the influential writers at that time. In 1928, Cheng Fangwu joined the Communist Party of China in Paris, France, and began to work for the Party. In October 1935, Cheng Fangwu, who had experienced the 25,000-mile Long March, arrived in northern Shaanxi and served as a senior class teacher and academic director at the Central Party School. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, a large number of revolutionary young people rushed to Yan 'an from all over the country. Cheng Fangwu followed the instructions of the Party Central Committee and prepared to establish a new revolutionary university-Shaanxi Public School, with Cheng Fangwu serving as the principal. The Northern Shaanxi Public School lived up to the ardent expectations of the Party Central Committee and Chairman Mao. In just two years, it trained more than 6000 cadres for the War of Resistance and created a large number of revolutionary talents. Cheng Fangwu is a well-known litterateur and revolutionary, but he is very approachable and treats students like his own children. A female classmate gave Cheng Fangwu a note that read: "You are our mother!" As a result, Cheng Fangwu was given the title of "Mother Principal". After schools such as Shaanxi Public School and Lu Xun Art Institute merged into North China United University, Cheng Fangwu became the president of North China United University. In order to welcome the liberation of the country, North China United Nations University merged with North University in Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan to form North China University, with Cheng Fangwu serving as vice president. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Renmin University of China was established based on North China University, North China People's Revolutionary University, and Political Science and Law Cadre School. Cheng Fangwu successively served as vice president and president of Renmin University of China. He also served as president of Northeast Normal University and Shandong University. He died in Beijing on May 17, 1984.
