Liu Xiang, born on July 13, 1983 in Putuo District, Shanghai, was a 110-meter hurdles athlete of the Chinese men's track and field team. In the history of Chinese sports track and field, it is also the first athlete in the history of Asian track and field to combine multiple honors such as Olympic champion, indoor and outdoor world championship champion, IAAF Grand Prix finals champion, and world record holder. In 2004, Liu Xiang tied the world record set by British player Colin Jackson in 12.91 seconds at the Athens Olympics and won the championship.
