164 years ago today, on August 2, 1861 (June 26, 1861 lunar calendar), the Money Society revolted. In the three to eleven years of the Qing Xianfeng Uprising (1853-1861), there were seven famines in Pingyang, which were exploited by the government and the gentry and landlords, and the people were struggling. In the summer of eight years (1858), Shi Dakai led the Taiping Army to capture Chuzhou, and Wenzhou was shaken. Qian Cang Zhao Qi and other eight people were encouraged to form an alliance at Beishan Temple to organize the Money Society and get in touch with the Taiping Army. Each member of the club was issued a "Money Yiji" copper coin as a membership certificate. Over the years, it developed to Pingyang, Ruian'an, Wenzhou, Yongjia, Qingtian and Fuding areas, with tens of thousands of people. On June 26 (August 2, 1861), the nearby congregation gathered and announced an uprising at Beishan Temple. He successively captured the compound of Chen Anlan, the head of the Ruian Baibu Association, wiped out the Ledu Wen family training regiment, broke through the Sun family's Anyi Fort, the supervisor of the southern Zhejiang regiment training regiment. He entered Wenzhou on August 28 (October 2) and captured the Taotai and the prefect's yamen. On October 18 (November 20), he captured Fuding County, and on October 25 (November 27) he besieged Ruian County. Due to the mobilization of heavy troops by the Qing government to suppress it, the base areas were lost one after another. In the first year of Tongzhi, the uprising failed in May (June 1962). In July of the second year (August 1963), Zhao Qi was arrested in Yuhuan and sacrificed heroically. The Money Society Uprising was one of the four great peasant uprisings in Zhejiang during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Revolution. Cooperating with the Taiping Army's struggle in Zhejiang, it effectively attacked the landlord armed forces in southern Zhejiang and disrupted the ruling order of the Qing government in southern Zhejiang.
