On December 11, 2002, the world's largest wildlife reserve was established
On December 11, 2002 (November 8, 2002 in the lunar calendar), the world's largest wildlife sanctuary was established. On December 11, 2002, South Africa's famous Kruger National Park began to remove border fences with Zimbabwe and Mozambique, thus kicking off the establishment of the world's largest wildlife sanctuary-the Greater Limpopo River Multinational Park. The presidents of South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe gathered in the Mozambican town of Saisai on the 9th and signed an agreement where the Limpopo River enters the sea, integrating South Africa's Kruger National Park, Zimbabwe's Gonarero National Park and Mozambique's Limpopo National Park into one to establish the Greater Limpopo River Transnational Park. According to the agreement, the three countries will gradually remove border fences and barbed wire to connect the three parks. The transnational park covers an area of 36,000 square kilometers. A newly established joint ministerial committee of the three countries will be responsible for the management of the entire park.
