173 years ago today, on November 27, 1852 (October 16, 1852), computer science pioneer Ada Lovelace passed away. Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace (December 10, 1815 - November 27, 1852), formerly known as Augusta Ada Byron, commonly known as Ada Lovelace, was the daughter of the famous English poet Byron. She is best known for translating the Italian Charles Babbage's early programming book "Introduction to the Analytical Engine". Ada's notes on the translation of Charles Babbage's "Introduction to the Analytical Engine" are considered to have had a major impact on modern computer and software engineering. Ada is the only legal heir of her poet father, Byron, and her mother, Anne Isabella Milbanzi (AnneIsabellaMilbanke). Her name was taken from Byron's half-sister, Augusta Leigh. Byron's marriage to Annabella was the product of Byron's union with Annabella in Augusta to avoid scandal. However, on January 16, 1816, Annabella left Byron with her one-month-old Ada. On April 21 of the same year, Byron signed a separation agreement and left England. Ada never met her half-sister, Allegra Byron, who was born to Byron and Claire Clairmont, but died in 1822 at the age of 5. As for Ada's other relative, Elizabeth Medora Lee (ElizabethMedoraLeigh, daughter of Augusta Lee), has met with her, and Ada's mother told Ada and Medora about each other's lives.
