Breaking-News >> TodayHistory British Prime Minister Spencer Percival was born
Spencer Percival On November 1, 1762, former British Prime Minister Spencer Percival was born. Spencer Perceval (November 1, 1762-May 11, 1812) was a British politician who served as British Prime Minister from 1809 to 1812. He was the only British Prime Minister in history to be assassinated. Percival attended Harrow College in his early years, then Trinity College in Cambridge, where he qualified as a literary scholar in 1782. At university, he was deeply impressed by the Anglican evangelism movement, which influenced him to become an expert on the prophetic books of the Bible, and wrote many pamphlets to publish the new discoveries he found in the prophetic books. In 1786, Percival became a lawyer and worked as a litigator in the circuit of the Midlands of England, but at first there were not many customers and the workload was insufficient. It was only through the personal connections of the family that the situation improved, and later he became famous for winning a forgery lawsuit. Percival's mother was also from a well-known family, which led him to be appointed as a deputy criminal court judge in Northamptonshire in 1790, and soon after as a commissioner specializing in bankruptcy. In addition, he was also given an official front job, and he was still paid as much as £119 a year without actual work. Percival represented the royal family in the prosecutions of Thomas Paine and John Horne Tooke in 1792 and 1794, and wrote numerous pamphlets supporting the impeachment of Warren Hastings. In addition, from 1794 to 1803, he was a member of the London and Westminster Abbey light cavalry.
