Water polo at the Summer Olympics

The scene of one of the water polo competitions of this Olympic Games

Water polo competition at the 1900 Summer Olympics was held on August 12, 1900, with only men's events. In this Olympic Games, men's water polo was officially included as an event for the first time; however, women's water polo was not officially included in the conference until 2000. Water polo is also one of the earliest team events included in Olympic history.

There were seven teams from France, Britain, Germany and Belgium, four of which were from the host country, France, and all of them were in sports clubs. The tournament was played in knockout stages; as there was no bronze medal, the team that lost in the semi-finals would receive a bronze medal. In the end, the British won the gold medal on behalf of Osborne Swimming Club.
