96 years ago today, on August 30, 1929 (July 26, 1929 in the lunar calendar), Peng Pai, the leader of the peasant movement, was murdered. Peng Pai, scientific name Han Yu. A native of Haifeng, Guangdong. Born in 1896. In 1917, he studied in Japan and studied at the Department of Political Economy of Waseda University. At the end of 1919, he joined the "Constructors' Alliance" at the university. In 1920, he organized the "Chixin Society" with others and published the "Chixin" magazine. He returned to China in May of the following year and joined the Socialist Youth League to establish the Socialist Research Society and the Workers' Sympathy Association. In July 1922, he established the Haifeng 6-person Agricultural Association, and the membership increased to more than 500 after 4 months. In January 1923, he was elected as the president of the Haifeng County General Farmers Association. In June, he was also the president of the Lufeng County General Farmers Association.
