On this day 67 years ago, on December 8, 1958 (October 28, 1958 in the lunar calendar), the All-African People's Congress was held. On December 8, 1958, the All-African People's Congress was held in Accra, the capital of Ghana. At the initiative of Ghanaian Prime Minister Nkrumah, the Congress was initiated by 36 African nationalist political parties and mass groups. More than 300 representatives of 62 organizations from 28 African countries attended the meeting and closed on the 13th. The Congress discussed various issues related to the independence of African nations, adopted a declaration and seven resolutions, condemned colonialism and imperialism, supported the independence struggles of Algeria and Cameroon, called for all possible assistance to the people of various countries who are striving for independence, and supported Pan-Africanism and the desire for unity of the African people. The permanent body is the General Committee. The second and third congresses were held in 1960 and 1961 respectively. After the establishment of the OAU in 1963, the conference was held again.
