On May 19, 2007, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taiwan was officially renamed the "Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall". The Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall (referred to as the Democracy Memorial Hall) is located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Taiwan. The site is located in the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, a cultural and educational building completed in 1980, which was originally a memorial to former leader of China Taiwan Chiang Kai-shek. On May 19, 2007, the Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall was officially unveiled and restructured. On June 7, 2007, the Legislative Yuan abolished the relevant regulations of the Democracy Memorial Hall, and the Democracy Memorial Hall entered history legally.
