On this day, 98 years ago, on November 11, 1927 (October 18, 1927, the lunar calendar), Wang Jingwei and Wu Zhihui engaged in a pen battle. On November 11, 1927, Wang Jingwei delivered a speech entitled "After the Separation of the Communist Party" at Zhixin School in Guangzhou, claiming that the Kuomintang should carry out the following three aspects of work after the separation of the Communist Party: (1)"We must continue to eliminate the Communist Party of China";(2) We must reorganize the theory of the National Revolution and separate the theory of the Communist Party from the Kuomintang;(3) The Kuomintang must "build up" and quickly realize the Kuomintang's principles and policies. Then, under Wang Jingwei's planning, Zhang Fakui, Huang Qixiang and others launched a coup in Guangzhou on November 17 to expel Li Jishen and Huang Shaohong of the Guangxi faction, claiming to be "protecting the party." The Guangzhou coup caused an uproar. Wu Zhihui, Cai Yuanpei, Li Zongren, Bai Chongxi and others in Nanjing launched an attack on Wang Jingwei for this. Wu Zhihui wrote a long article entitled "Reading Mr. Wang's Verbose Words after the Separation of the Communist Party", which was serialized in Shanghai's Republic of China Daily. Wu claimed that the "party purge" of Wuhan Wang Jingwei Group was to carry out the "order of the Third International to oppose communism and overthrow Chiang" and "still ran to the Kuomintang and overthrow Chiang", and said that "overthrow Chiang""was the force to overthrow the Kuomintang."
