In January 1939, Dai Anlan was promoted to the rank of commander of the 200th Division of the Fifth Army of the Kuomintang; in December, Dai led his troops to participate in the Battle of Southern Guangxi, where he served as a frontal attack mission on Kunlunguan and severely injured the Japanese army. In the spring of 1942, Dai Anlan's troops were incorporated into the first combat sequence of the China Expeditionary Force and entered Myanmar to fight against Japan. In the Battle of Tonggu, the 200th Division and a unit of the 55th Division of the Japanese Army fought bloody battles for 12 days and nights, wiping out more than 5000 enemy troops, delaying the Japanese army's northward retreat and covering the British army's retreat. It was praised by U.S. Lieutenant General Stilwell and senior British generals. After the war situation in Myanmar deteriorated, Dai Anlan was ordered to lead the 200th Division to retreat. While passing through the Xiabu Mokko Highway, he was shot in the chest and abdomen, and his injuries were serious. Due to the rainy season and lack of medical plaques, Dai Anlan's wound suppurated and infected, and died on May 26 in Maobang Village, Myanmar.
