114 years ago today, June 17, 1911 (May 21, 1911, the Lunar Calendar), the Bao Lu Comrades Association was established. On June 17, 1911, the shareholders 'meeting of the Sichuan-Han Railway organized by China Commercial Bank organized a "Road Protection Comrades' Meeting" in Chengdu. Soon, Sichuan Province and other places also established "Road Protection Comrades 'Associations." With the purpose of "protecting roads and abolishing the treaty", the "Comrades for Protecting Roads" protested against the Qing government's nationalization of the Sichuan-Han and Guangdong-Han railways that had been handed over to the people. At the same time, it opposed the Qing government's collusion with banking consortiums of Britain, the United States, Germany, and France to sell railway construction and other rights to imperialist mass organizations. The Qing government's so-called "state-owned railway trunk lines" act of betrayal and loss of power aroused firm opposition from the people of the country. Among them, Sichuan is the most intense. Under the initiative of the "Road Protection Comrades Association", people from all walks of life in Sichuan launched strikes, market strikes, class strikes and armed struggles across the province. At the same time, all walks of life in Guangdong, Hunan, and Hubei also responded and put forward the slogan of "The road exists and exists, the road dies and dies." Overseas Chinese living in the United States also declared that "Guangdong Road is owned by the country and vowed to die to obey." The road protection movement, in which hundreds of thousands of people across the country participated, developed into a struggle against the rule of the Qing Dynasty and became a prelude to the Revolution of 1911.
