39 years ago today, on November 29, 1986 (October 28, 1986 in the lunar calendar), the Latin American Democratic Political Parties Forum was established. On November 29, 1986, representatives attending the first Latin American Forum of Democratic Political Parties Congress adopted the charter of the Latin American and Caribbean Forum of Democratic Political Parties in Buenos Aires. According to the charter, this is a permanent organization among political parties in various countries in the region. Its purpose is to effectively consolidate democracy, peace, sovereignty and unity in the region and seek effective forms of regional integration through coordination and cooperation among political parties. The first session of the forum began on November 27 and closed on the 29th. President Alfonsin attended the opening ceremony. Representatives from 40 political parties in 18 Latin American countries attended the conference. The conference unanimously elected President of Argentina and Chairman of the Argentine Radical Citizenship Alliance Alfonsin as Chairman of the Forum and elected members of the Executive Committee.
