On July 13, 1881, the Jinan teaching case took place. American Presbyterian priests colluded with traitors in Jinan, forcibly bought Jiaoyuanxing houses on West Street, and rebuilt the church. The teachers and students of Luoyuan College issued a post demanding that the house be repossessed. The missionary reported to the American minister that the church had been demolished and demanded compensation. The US embassy sent a counselor to Jinan to blackmail the local official to settle the case by refunding the house price and compensation.
