Breaking-News >> TodayHistory The Oslo Accords were signed on August 20, 1993
Thirty-two years ago today, on August 20, 1993 (July 3, 1993), the Oslo Accords were signed. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian Liberation Organization Chairperson Yasser Arafat met on the White House lawn in the United States. The Oslo Accords refer to the peace agreement reached after a secret meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Yasser Rabin and Palestinian Liberation Organization Chairperson Yasser Arafat in Oslo, the capital of Norway, on August 20, 1993. On September 13, the two sides signed the Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements on the White House lawn in the United States, which is considered a milestone in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. But two years after the agreement was signed, Rabin was assassinated by Israeli extremists, and subsequent Palestinian extremist forces also launched successive attacks against Israel. Street conflicts gradually turned into armed confrontations between the two sides, and the implementation of the Oslo Accords was suspended indefinitely. Comments: Almost 20 years later, both of them have died, and peace is still a long way off. News raw data sources → https://www.abtool.cn/today_detail/1ntd.html 17WorldNews[2025.09.27-13:05] 访问:70
