July 18, 1942 The first test flight of the German Messerschmidt jet fighter was successful
On this day, 83 years ago, on July 18, 1942 (June 6, 1942 in the lunar calendar), the German Messerschmitt jet fighter successfully tested for the first time. On July 18, 1942, Germany's Messerschmitt Me-263 jet fighter successfully tested on a jet engine alone for the first time. The rocket-powered aircraft was developed on the basis of the Me163, but has little in common with the Me163. It was originally called Me163D, but was renamed Ju248 after being handed over to Junkers, and renamed Me263 after being handed over to Messerschmitt. Compared with the Me163, the Me263 has a larger fuselage, lands on a landing gear, and a rocket engine with a cruise combustion chamber. Only one was built because it could not prove to be superior to the Me262. Comments: The advanced Nazi weapons made it unstoppable in the early days of World War II
